Leftovers
If you ate the same meal last night chances are you could risk being bored of it the next day. This does not stop you from turning that meal into something else. Some chilli powder with kidney beans can turn Bolognese into chilli. If you had a roast why not chop it up, and put it into a pie? You could even put the mixture into a pot and lay a single layer of pastry over the top. When you bake jacket potatoes a few more potatoes on the oven certainly does not hurt for the next day.
You could definitely freeze some dishes, this would then offset having to eat the same food over and over again. It is well worth labelling, as well as dating food. Maybe even have a cheese roll ready to eat (after thawing).
Tortilla wraps not only contain your lunch but it also means consuming less yeast. You get more of a crunch out of salads, rather than filling a sandwich. Roast chicken from the night before can be turned into a Mexican chicken wrap simply using salsa. If you have a grill you can toast wraps. I make bombay potatoes at home, then wrap up the mixture and toast on the grill. This kept the wrap closed, until I was ready to eat it.
Lunch Ideas For Work
I like to make homemade pizza although it tends not to be cheaper it does mean I get the thickness of pizza base I require. Recently I have started to make calzone, which is basically a pizza dough pie with a blended egg browning the outside. I like it as the contents stays moist not drying out in the oven. I do like to buy margarita pizza placing goat’s cheese on top with thinly sliced tomatoes. I was wondering if I can cook using pizza base rather than pastry for pies. I would imagine a meat balls soaked in bolognaise would be great!
Very few shop bought quiche tastes anywhere near as good as homemade. Also you could take a Spanish omelette to work. The bonus is you get to pick the ingredients. A few thoughts on stinky food, for one you should not eat smelly food at your desk where possible. Food like chilli and green curry will quickly spread odour due to high amounts of sauce, especially if you heat the food up. A good food container that clicks in place is a good idea too.
Have a Picnic
Why not have a small picnic at work with one of your friends. You could always share your home cooking. When you have 3 or more people the cost of lunch becomes cheaper. When the weather is good what could be better than sitting out in the park. If you are near a superstore it is even easier, perhaps even a nice cold pudding to finish it off!
